SIX NUMBER SAVIOR

There he stood in a long line of wishful thinkers
If he wouldn’t be embarrassed he’d be down on his knees
For he’d been down on his luck, with bill collector’s calling him
all day
Then he approaches the front of the line
and he closes his eyes and he prays:
Dear Lord, give me the numbers
I promise I’ll tithe if I win
Bring me a six number savior
Then I can start over again
There she stood in a room filled with lonely singles
Feeling so embarrassed not knowing what to say
For she’d been down on her luck, post-divorced for six years
yesterday
Then he approaches from across the room
And she closes her eyes and she prays:
Dear Lord, make him the right one
I promise to be true if you do
Bring me a love that can save me
Then I can start over again
Everyday, we can see such misguided people
Looking for false-saviors, searching in vain
How many idols have we worshipped? How many idols have we worshipped?
How many idols have we worshipped when the answer is The Cross?
There they stood, in a room filled with broken people
Feeling so forgiven, endless grace has washed them clean
For they’d been down on their luck, but luck is not needed here
today
And as they approach the front of the line,
they close their eyes and they pray:
Dear Lord, who art in heaven
How great is your name!
Cleanse me and bring me salvation
Now I can start over again! (repeat and fade)
